A Hawaii Cruise - Perfect for the First Time Hawaii Vacationer!

If you've never been to Hawaii and are thinking about taking your next vacation there, a cruise may be just the ticket to your vacationing paradise. In fact, even if you've already been to the Islands, you might still find that cruising is the way to go.

There are many reasons why cruising is the choice for many vacationers, and should be your first choice, especially if this is your first trip to Hawaii and you just don't know which island to go to.

One of the main benefits to a Hawaii cruise is that you are able to visit just about every one of the main islands. One of the problems many Hawaii vacationers have is that they can't decide on which island to visit. If you think about it, once you decide you want to go to Hawaii, the next logical step in your vacation planning is to figure out which island you want to spend your time on. The great thing about a cruise is that you don't have to decide. You get a little taste of each of the islands! And, if it's your first time in Hawaii, this allows you to check out each island so that next time you decide to go to Hawaii, you can spend your entire vacation on your favorite island.

Another great benefit of a cruise is that they are all-inclusive. About the only thing that the package does not include is alcohol and off-ship excursions. There is food constantly being offered all day long, and if you're on the ship, it's free! And, every night, you'll get a very nice dinner. That is one thing about cruises that everybody raves about - the dinners. Every ship is different, but one thing that is common is that the dinners are exceptionally good. We're talking steak, lobster, shrimp, pasta, and more. And, it's usually a 5 course meal - appetizer, soup, salad, main course, and dessert.

Besides food, all-inclusive also includes entertainment, nightly shows, games, and more.

Booking excursions easily right from the ship is another reason why cruises are a nice way to go. The ship will have an excursion desk where you can go to book all your off-ship excursions. Of course, the excursions are an extra cost, but to have one place to go to book excursions is worth the time and effort you will save... especially on your first vacation to Hawaii. You don't want to waste time looking around on land for things to do... you want to just do them!

So, as you can see, there are many great reasons why you ought to take a Hawaii cruise, especially if you're a first timer. If you've never been to Hawaii, this is the way to go. You are able to visit multiple islands, cruises are all-inclusive, and they make booking excursions very convenient. There's a good chance that you'll want to take another Hawaii cruise once it's over... or you might find the one island that you loved and want to go back to again.

No matter what you decide, you'll be very happy you decided to take a cruise around the Hawaiian Islands!

Great Family Destinations in the US

Looking for a great family trip in 2008? One that may be drivable and if not offers domestic travel rates? This list is from areas all over the country so everyone can benefit. Check these out:

  1. New York City (NY) - Catch a Broadway show like the Lion King, go to Central Park and expose your kids to some delicious ethnic food. You can also hang out at a kid friendly hotel like Doubletree Guest Suites, Hilton Times Square or Four Seasons Hotel New York which offers tons of family amenities including extra large rooms (Doubletree), mega-entertainment complex (Hilton) and child-proofing (Four Seasons).
  2. Grand Canyon (AZ) - Complete a series of activities to become a Junior Ranger, learn about why water is so important to the Canyon (and to you to) and take a hike along one of the hundreds of trails (make sure you follow the guides).
  3. Yellowstone National Park - There are a myriad of fun activities here at Yellowstone including hiking, horseback riding, boating, camping, taking a Yellowstone Institute class and more. Yellowstone is home to hundreds of wildlife and lets us all get a big burst of nature in one place.
  4. Pennsylvania Dutch Country (PA) - Many think of the Amish when the Dutch Country comes to mind and there are ways to learn and explore about them. However there are a bunch of other fun and family friendly activities to do including: Cherry Crestfarm (5-acre maze, animal farm, pumpkin slinger, guided wagon tour, etc.); Longwood Gardens (over 1050 acres of gardens, woodlands and meadows); Strasburg Rail Road (45 minute ride); and more - too many to list.
  5. Mount Rushmore National Park (SD) - Take a picture of history for your children. In addition to the presidential front of Mount Rushmore, the Crazy Horse Memorial is being carved as we speak and will be the largest in the world when completed. Other wonderful family fun is to be found at the Journey Museum or taking a jeep safari through the grasslands. You may even see some buffalo roam. Checkout Badlands National Parks while you're there and explore two of the U.S.'s longest caves, Wind Cave and Jewel Cave.
  6. San Diego (CA) - This beautiful city offers it all; white beaches, family attractions, great shopping and excellent food. The beaches in San Diego can not be beat, there are 70 miles of them along the coast. San Diego is home to Balboa Park, aka The Smithsonian of the West which is home to San Diego Zoo, 15 museums and 8 gardens. Other attractions include Legoland California and SeaWorld.
  7. Boston (MA) - The Boston Children's Museum is one of the largest and most action packed in the country. There are over 20 other museums in Boston including the Boston Tea Party Ship & Museum, The New England Pirate Museum and the Harvard University Art Museum. In addition to the cultural aspect of the city you can check out the Boston Harbor Islands, take in the Blueman Show and visit my favorite, Quincy's Market for some great entertainment, food and shopping.

So whether you live on the East or West Coast or somewhere in the middle, you can find a fun and affordable family vacation close to home. What's in your backyard?

5 Best Island Resorts

When you think about a rest on an island, you probably think about some warm paradise with palm trees. But the National Geographic has another opinion - the experts of this magazine have rated 111 islands and the top 5 of those are actually not the most popular directions.

1) Farrell Islands (Denmark)

The top score is taken by the Farrell Islands - officially a part of Denmark. This archipelago represents an autonomy with their own traditions and lifestyle. The National Geographic experts have appreciated the untouched beauty of the islands and their efforts to remain this way. The cold climate and distance from the major touristic routes helps them a lot in this policy.

2) Azores Islands(Portugal)

The Azores are located in 1600 kilometers to the West from the continental Portugal. They are famous for their green volcanic mountains and beautiful towns. The second place in this rating was provided by the perfect ecology and rich culture of these places. According to the experts, the uncertain climate protects the ecosystem from the invasion of huge amounts of tourists.

The third place has been occupied by three directions simultaneously:

Lofoten Islands (Norway)

The Lofoten Islands group in the Norwegian Sea became one of the "bronze" leaders of this rating. The cultural heritage and ecology care - these were again the major aspects that led to this decision. Besides were also other factors named, such as beautiful sea, coastal rocks and picturesque houses. Just like the other islands in the top list - there are not so many tourists there.

Shetland Islands (Great Britain)

These islands are edged with scenic cliffs and wonderful beaches and the local birds population represent a huge point of interest for the ornithologists and simply bird lovers. The islands are located in only 210 kilometers from Scotland and in spite of the presence of the oil towers, are ecologically clean. This district is not really pure British - the places remind about Scandinavia here.

Chiloe (Chili)

The Chiloe archipelago is famous for its clean beaches that became one of the reasons to place Chiloe at the third position. The experts have notices also the protection measures of the forests, historical towns and wooden churches on these islands.
